ABOUT

Maori Kimura is a Japanese textile and accessory designer based in the Netherlands.

She specializes in three-dimensional textures with a focus on materials and patterns.
Her wish is to make your daily life more enjoyable and colorful by having "things" filled with ideas and techniques that stimulate your curiosity.

After graduating from Textile Design Course at Tama Art University in
Tokyo, she worked for ISSEY MIYAKE as a textile and bag designer for seven years. Then, she learned glassblowing and ceramics in Denmark to explore new ways of expression in 2021. Since 2022, she has been based in Rotterdam as MAORI KIMURA DESIGN STUDIO.

素材と模様にフォーカスした立体的なテクスチャーを得意とするテキスタイル・バッグデザイナー。
好奇心を刺激するアイデアやテクニックが詰まった「モノ」と時間を過ごすことで、日々を楽しく彩りたいと考えています。


多摩美術大学 生産デザイン学科 テキスタイルデザイン専攻卒業後、 テキスタイル・バッグデザイナーとして 
ISSEY MIYAKE に7 年間勤務。新たな表現技法を探究するため、2021年にデンマークへ留学し吹きガラスと陶芸を学ぶ。2022年より MAORI KIMURA DESIGN STUDIOとしてRotterdamを拠点に活動しています。
